By Zack Van Eyck on January 30th, 2012

Just another uneventful night in the dairy cow pastures of north-central Texas?  Definitely not.   And the days that followed weren’t normal either, with high school kids donning tin-foil space helmets and no-nonsense cowboys wearing “Alien Capital of the World” T-shirts.

There's a buzz on the internet these days about alleged "strange sounds" being heard around the world.  Some of the sounds are similar in several videos being uploaded from different regions of the world.

The atmospheric noise is profound in amplitude, and sometimes sounds like trumpeting angels.  Another recurring theme is beastly sounding, roaring blasts reminiscent of alien monster movies like the 2005 remake of "War of the Worlds."

UFOGrid is committed to employing journalistic standards and common sense to navigate through the murky realms of the unknown, whether they are tantalizing glimpses of UFOs, ancient artifacts or modern day crop circles.

Perhaps it is our survival instinct to fear the unknown that contributes to popular ridicule of the subject. No doubt, it is more comfortable to dismiss the unknown than to reason with it.

  • Cassini's closest fly by of Saturn moon, Dione

By NASA on January 20th, 2012

Flying past Saturn's moon Dione, Cassini captured this view which includes two smaller moons, Epimetheus and Prometheus, near the planet's rings.

The image was taken in visible light with Cassini's narrow-angle camera during the spacecraft's flyby of Dione on Dec. 12, 2011.

This encounter was the spacecraft's closest pass of the moon's surface, but, because this flyby was intended primarily for other Cassini instruments, it did not yield Cassini's best images of the moon.

Higher resolution images were obtained during earlier flybys.

Dione (698 miles, or 1,123 kilometers across) is closest to ...

In this presentation, we will be taking a closer look at a very interesting bit of amateur video footage shot in Salida, Colorado back in 1995 by a man named Tim Edwards, showing an Unidentified Object in the sky.

Since Mr. Edwards shot this footage, it has been shown in several different television and film documentaries that deal with the UFO phenomenon - and with good reason in my opinion. This was a clear sky, broad daylight sighting (approx 9:30am local time), providing Mr. Edwards with excellent seeing/filming conditions. The ...
