• Pilot witnesses two "pale red lights" over Louisiana

    Two, “pale” red lights hovered next to each other before flying off at an extreme rate of speed, according to witnesses in Lafayette, LA, on the night of September 23, 2014.

    The lights were observed for 30-40 seconds by one of the witnesses, who identified himself as a pilot in his report to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).

    The reporting witness and a friend were reclining in an open field near the South College Shopping Center and saw several shooting stars. At 11:30 PM, they spotted the strange lights.

  • Landing spot chosen for historic soft landing attempt on comet

    Scientists have picked their parking spot on Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko for the Rosetta mission lander Philae.  

    The spot, known as “Site J” is located on the head of the comet and was chosen for it’s science potential and for posing a minimum risk for the landing craft.

    The landing is planned for November 11. If successful, the lander will then take measurements and conduct the first-ever study of “the composition, structure and evolution of a comet,” according to Jean-Pierre Bibring, a lead lander scientist and principal investigator for the mission in Orsay, France.

  • Cluster of strange lights videotaped over Baltic Sea

    A cluster of strange lights over the Baltic Sea off the coast of Poland were videotaped for several minutes by witnesses of the event on the evening of September 9, 2014.

    The lights appear to be in a tight and changing formation in the video, with some of them “falling to the sea” in intervals, according to the poster.

    The video was posted to YouTube by Riese Olbrzym, who wrote that the lights appeared twice, a few minutes apart at around 6:17 PM, local time. The video shows both sightings.
