China’s Chang'e 5 spacecraft test mission has rounded the far side of the Moon and is on its way back to Earth. The engineering mission is designed to test the craft’s systems in preparation for a lunar sample retrieval mission in 2017.

The spacecraft took a spectacular image looking back at Earth from behind the far side of the Moon as swung around it and headed home for a November 1 re-entry landing.

The image shows how different the far side of Moon is from the side that faces Earth.  And Earth seen from a distance appears as a beautiful water planet.
